Prayer for Christian Unity 2007

Open our eyes that we may see Jesus the Daystar, who dispels our shadows.
Open our ears that we may hear the voices muffled
by the trials and struggles of this transient world.
Open our hearts, that Together we may know how to respond
to the pain of those among us who are suffering;
as Jesus respectfully entered the world of the man
who could neither hear nor speak, and healed him.
This we ask, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

(The core text: Mark 7: 31-37)

Loving Father,
Thank you for all joy, blessings and true Christian friendship You have showered us with in the past and we seek Your guidance for the way ahead. We pray for the Leaders and Members of all Eight Churches and that we all may be ‘envisioned’ by Your Holy Spirit to live as your Ambassadors for Unity, Love, Witness and Mission here.

We ask for Your continued blessing on the organisations’ ‘Witnessing for You’ and ‘Walking alongside others in times of trouble and difficulties’ TOGETHER.

  • We thank You for the ‘Church Representatives’ working TOGETHER to find new initiatives to spread your Gospel and serve your people here. We pray for them and ask You to bless all our meetings, deliberations and decisions.
  • We pray for the expanding role of representation on ‘Amersham First Action Group’ and we pray this will be to Your Glory.
  • We lift to you the planning and witness of outreach for The Carnival, the Amersham Christmas Festival and any other events as they arise during the year.
  • We ask for your Blessing on the ‘Walk of Witness’ on Good Friday. May it be a powerful proclamation of living faith in you and your sacrifice for us all. Loving Father, we pray for your inspiration and protection for all the arrangements for this and that it will honour You above all else and point others to Jesus. Teach us to faithfully serve and pray for all who live and work here.
  • Teach us to faithfully serve and pray for all who live and work here.
  • We give thanks for all the ‘Hidden Workers’ within our organisations
For the joy that they bring, in Your name,
and the love that they show for You and their fellows in this work.
Enlarge their vision, Empower their work and may it bring Glory to You always
Lord, in Your Mercy, Hear our Prayer             Amen

Thank you for praying as we go forward in faith.                  Celia Palmer
