Men's ministry
|
It's early days for us as we explore specifically what we mean by men's ministries. Most of our men are at work through the week and we want to support each other in living out our faith there. For those of us who are married we want to support and encourage one another in being faithful husbands and fathers. Consequently we offer courses on parenting and on marriage throughout the cycle of a year. For those who are single we want to share with them a wider family experience. Our retired men are active in a great variety of differing spheres and we want to support one another there particularly as we transition into 'retirement.' Whatever our stage of life we want to be exploring what it is to be a community of men following Jesus in radical discipleship. Men are involved in every tier of our life together. Within our community men play an active part in branch and net groups, in worship, prayer and all our PA and AV teams as well as our set up teams. They serve in our youth and children's ministries. Our Branch groups are generally mixed gender but our Net groups are single sex to allow for opportunities to discuss and support one another in a more focused way. We offer specific teaching aimed at men each term at the Beacon alongside courses that are universally helpful such as the Boundaries course and Alpha, to name two. We are looking to build a directory of interest groups so that you can readily link up with other men who may already share your hobby , pastime or sport. For example cycling, triathlon, tennis, golf, supporting Watford ( someone has to,) supporting Wasp's Rugby, photography and film making, Self Protection Training, Geo-caching, are just some of the activities I know that St Leonard's men are actively involved in.
